The Netherlands Commission on Genetic Modification (COGEM) is an independent scientific advisory committee composed of scientists. COGEM provides scientific advice to the government on the risks to human health and the environment of the production and use of GMOs and informs the government of ethical and societal issues linked to genetic modification.
On 4 October, COGEM presented to the Dutch ministry of Infrastructure and Environment a report on the current state of bio-nanotechnology, with title (in Dutch): “Het bionano-avontuur, Bouwen aan de levende cell”. The report is based on ten interviews with prominent Dutch scientists investigated what the latest developments and prospects in this research field.
